Straight edge was a created on
accident. Minor Threat wrote the song straight edge and it soon
started what kids know today as straight edge.Three simple
rules. No drinking, smoking, or drugs.

In
the straight edge scene music is the most important part. If you
go to a hardcore show more than likely you will see straight
edge kids there having a good time. Bands like Minor Threat,
Gorilla Biscuits, and Earth Crisis paved the way for all of the
modern day straight edge bands.
Straight
Edge does have its violent side to it though. Youth Crews like
FSU spread the word of straight edge through violence. They have
been known to beat people brutally if they have been smoking,
drinking, or doing drugs around them. There have been incidents
where a group of straight edge kids beat up a drug dealer stole
his money and threw away all of his drugs. With every positive
ther is a negative. Straight edge is divided by these two
groups.
